Summer Youth Music Camp inspires next generation of musicians

Middle and high school students recently spent a week at the Cal State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) Summer Youth Music Camp learning from professional musicians through workshops, rehearsals and master classes before performing with the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra at its annual Concert Under the Stars.

The camp featured classes, workshops, rehearsals, performance coaching, sectionals and masterclasses led by professional musicians and educators from both the university and the symphony. Throughout the week, students refined their musical skills while receiving mentorship from accomplished performers and instructors.

The program concluded with camp attendees performing alongside the symphony at the annual Concert Under the Stars on Saturday, June 20. Participants also earned eligibility for placement in the symphony or Overture Orchestra without an audition.

The annual camp reflects the shared commitment of CSUSB and the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra to expanding access to high-quality music education for young musicians throughout the Inland Empire. By combining expert instruction, hands-on learning and performance opportunities, the partnership continues to inspire the next generation of musicians while strengthening the region’s vibrant arts community.
