Construction begins on new soccer field at Vermont Elementary

Construction is now underway on a new soccer field at Vermont Elementary School thanks to a donation by the McGuire family.

The project, expected to be completed in three months, will include leveling the field, installing drainage and special grass, and making it suitable for students to play soccer.

“We love Vermont Elementary,” said Marco McGuire in a statement. “It still feels like home to us, and that’s why we devote our resources to supporting the school and its students. Somewhere in one of those classrooms is a future McGuire who’s dreaming of something big. Because that’s the kind of school Vermont is. This is where dreams take root.”

For Cesar McGuire, his family’s donation is an investment that will pay dividends for years to come.

“I truly believe that continued education is essential to future success and generational wealth. This project is more than just a soccer field, it is an investment in each child that attends Vermont Elementary, now and in the future,” Cesar McGuire said. “My brothers and I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity to give back to a community that has given so much to us.”

The San Bernardino City Unified School District says an after-school soccer club is being organized with a growing list of students waiting for the field to be ready.
