San Bernardino City Animal Shelter at critical capacity

San Bernardino City Animal Shelter at critical capacity

The City of San Bernardino’s Animal Shelter is calling on the public for help. As of Wednesday the shelter was at critical capacity with 172 dogs in 130 kennels.

The adoption fee, normally $70 has been lowered to $25. Visit www.sbcity.org to view the dogs available for adoption.

The San Bernardino Animal Shelter has a few tips for choosing your new family member:

  • When choosing a new pet for your home, think about how the new pet will fit into your lifestyle.
  • If you are not home often, choose an adult dog with low exercise requirements.
  • If you have children, select a breed that is known to interact well with kids.
  • If you have other pets at home, think about how a new pet will affect them.
  • In all cases, you and your family members living with the pet should visit the shelter prior to adopting.
  • Be sure you are will to make the long term commitment which could include walks, training and vet care.
The shelter is located at 333 Chandler Place and is open Tuesday through Saturday from Noon to 3PM or call (909) 384-1304 for more information.
