Old Timer’s in San Bernardino are very familiar with DJ’s Coffee Shop on 40th Street in North San Bernardino. A mainstay in the community and local politics, you were always destined to run into a Mayor, councilmember or other community leader at DJ’s. Things haven’t changed much!
Located in the old Stater Bros shopping center (now TJ Maxx) near the corner of Waterman and 40th Street, DJ’s Coffee Shop has been serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner to diners for over 50 years. While the service was limited to take-out during Covid, we are pleased to say that they are back open for business every day from 7 AM to 8 PM.
We stopped into DJ’s on a Wednesday morning and it was great to see their staff busily waiting on customers with the same great service they have always been known for, with Covid precautions in place of course.
The menu has remained the same with a broad selection for every meal. Breakfast was wonderful. I had the Corned Beef Hash with eggs while my colleague chose the French Toast. The portions were generous and cooked exactly to order. The corned beef hash was served with a large side of hash browns and two eggs and was a hearty and tasty meal. The French Toast was excellently prepared from thick slices of fluffy bread.
Overall, DJ’s retains it’s reputation for great food and service, and from our recent visit, city leaders remain strong patrons of this local breakfast hotspot.
