Tesla signs lease for San Bernardino industrial property

It’s official. Tesla is coming to San Bernardino.

Alere Property Group announced this week that Tesla has signed a lease on a recently completed 322,000-square-foot industrial development at 19640 Cajon Boulevard in San Bernardino.

The new facility will serve all of Tesla’s west coast distribution including auto parts, power walls, solar panels and other related items. According to Alere, the facility will also be the base of operation for hundreds of employees.

“Alere is pleased to welcome Tesla to its new home in San Bernardino,” said Michael Del Santo, senior vice president of portfolio management, at Alere Property Group. “19640 Cajon Boulevard is designed for the new generation of e-commerce and distribution users, with attributes that are highly sought after yet unique in the Inland Empire’s competitive industrial warehouse market. Alere provides a world-class experience to all of its tenants and will continue to raise the bar for the global logistics industry.”

The distribution facility includes more than 5,000 square feet of office space, 52 dock-high doors, two ground-level doors, an extra-large 185-foot truck court and a bonus storage yard located just south of the I-15 and I-215 freeway junction in Inland Empire.

Tesla also operates a 5.3 million-square-foot manufacturing factory and office out of Fremont. In April, the company signed a five-year lease for an 82,000-square-foot warehouse and office property in Santa Monica.

Rick John, Dan Foye and Gus Andros, SIOR with DAUM Commercial Real Estate Services represented Alere in this transaction. Tesla was represented by Hunter McDonald at CBRE. Terms of the transaction are undisclosed.
